I’m reactivating my blog so I can keep writing on topics that interest me (and, hopefully, you!)

Hey everyone! After the last three years of daily editorial writing, I have decided to reactivate my old blog site and start posting again. There are so many topics and issues I have thoughts and Ideas about, it just seems natural to keep writing. Retirement simply means I can write whenever I feel like it — not on any particular deadline!

For your information, my daily editorials for the Enid News & Eagle were always based on what I call common-sense conservatism. Yes, I am a conservative, although I’ve been accused of being quite the liberal with my editorials and columns for the News & Eagle. Perhaps it’s because that common-sense factor I’ve talked about is greatly missing from the loud and boisterous minority now running the Republican Party in our state and in our nation.

Yes, I disagree quite a bit with many of the social policies of current Republican administrations in Oklahoma and in Congress. However, I believe with all my heart that the majority of Republicans in the state and in our nation still favor the core principles of GOP conservatism – individual freedom, limited government, rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets and human dignity and value.

Yes, many of us have differing viewpoints on all these principles. We don’t all think the same on every issue. However, instead of yelling and screaming at each other on what we disagree about, it’s time to start focusing on the values and ideas we can come to compromise on.

Yes, there’s that “c-word” again. Compromise. To many in the extremes, compromise is a foul word; however, in my viewpoint, compromise is the only way to accomplish big-picture goals. So, I thank all of you who will take the time to read what I post.

I don’t know how often I will post, but when I do, I will provide the link to my blog site, and, there is no pay wall to read what I write. You are free to read my posts – or not! And, you are free to agree or disagree with me – as long as you are respectful. I won’t tolerate trolls or ugliness.

I’m looking forward to hearing constructive opinions.
